Garden Design and Care
It is one of my greatest pleasures to design home gardens and to care for them over time. My goal is to create a beautiful garden for you that looks good from the appearance of the first spring bulb all the way through the long, harsh winter. I'm happy to overhaul existing garden beds or create brand new beds within your lawn, and I embrace every environment from full sun to deep shade. There is a garden for every space.
Drawing inspiration from many styles, I favour textured layers of perennial plantings in interesting colour palettes. Native plants and ornamental grasses feature heavily. I can choose plants that will keep your vases overflowing; homeowners who love to cook might find edible flowers and vegetables in their gardens. My designs adapt to your tastes, whether they tend toward the informal and wild, or symmetric and structured.
The real reward of gardening is watching your space grow and evolve over time. It takes about three growing seasons for a perennial garden to fully mature, but the wait is worth it. If you like, I can guide your garden along with a light but steady hand. That might mean a biweekly or monthly visit to weed, prune, and transplant as needed. If you want to be more involved but aren't sure where to start, I am available to coach you through your gardening tasks.

Cut Flowers for Florists
Since 2016 I have grown tulips, ranunculus, dahlias, and a wide range of other flowering perennials and annuals in my Whitby cutting garden. From April to October, I provide my florist clients with the stems I cut from my small but mighty plot. The harvest changes from week to week and no growing season is the same.
I am currently at capacity for the 2022 season, but if you'd like to be notified about bumper crops, please give me a shout at allison@posygang.com.
